Self Certification as High Net Worth or Sophisticated Investors

Assetz® Property Investment Fund Management was established to deliver new and innovative property investment opportunities. Some of these investment opportunities take the form of unlisted securities and other joint venture vehicles that require the Self-Certification as High Net Worth or Sophisticated by the potential investor before we can discuss the opportunities further.

In order to invest in investments such as Joint Ventures investors need to self-certify as a High Net Worth Investor or a Sophisticated Investor provided they are able to do so. This provides the opportunity to invest in opportunities which would previously have been restricted to a select few investors who were certificated by their accountant as high net worth or sophisticated under the old regime.

The FSA legislation makes the following classifications:

High Net Worth Investors

  • have an income in excess of GBP 100,000 per annum and/or
  • have net assets (excluding primary residence) in excess of GBP 250,000

Sophisticated Investors

  • have made at least 2 investments in an unlisted company in the last 2 years
  • have worked in the private equity sector or in the provision of finance for SMEs
  • or have been in the last 2 years a director of a company with a turnover of at least GBP 1 million
  • have been a member of an angel network or syndicate for the last 6 months
